RIIS

3' x 2' x 3', 2010

The commissioned centerpiece for Jacob Riis National Park in Far Rockaway Queens NY developed by the National Parks Service and the Aquinas Honor Society. Forty-six years ago, one of the two Riis monuments in the world was stolen from Jacob Riis park. It was never to be seen again. Now, nearly half a century later, the National Park Service presents this bust not only in celebration of Immigrant Heritage week, but as the long-awaited return of Jacob Riis to his rightful place as centerpiece for the beachfront.
